Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus
leucocephalus)
Order: Falconiformes Family: Kites, Eagles and Hawks (Accipitridae)
The Bald Eagle is the national bird of the United States.
They can live up to 40 years. Their preferred diet is fish which they usually
catch themselves, although, if the opportunity presents itself, they will steal
fish from Ospreys. They will also eat waterfowl, turtles, and small mammals
such as rabbits. They are also carrion eaters and will readily feast upon delicacies
such as road-killed deer.
